Cross Community Area Networks Placeshaping Plans
Carlin Planning teamed up with Park Hood landscape architects to deliver six placeshaping projects on behalf of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE). Cross Community Area Networks (CCANs) comprising community representatives across all community backgrounds were established throughout Belfast as part of the NIHE Building Positive Relations programme.
Carlin Planning and Park Hood undertook a 6 month engagement process with the CCAN groups to understand the strengths, weaknesses, needs and opportunities within the communities. This included visual analysis, planning analysis, visits to best practice examples and mind mapping exercises. Ideas emerged and concept designs were produced before entering into a comprehensive public and stakeholder engagement phase.
