Recently Carlin Planning employee, Tieran FitzLarkin, was honoured by receiving the RTPI NI Student Project Award.
Tieran, who first came to Carlin Planning as a placement student while completing his final year of an Integrated Masters at Ulster University, is now permanent employee of the company.
His research focused on resilient urban design in Belfast, particularly examining whether the city was adequate meeting expectations in creating a cohesive and sustainable urban environment. In particular, he explored the ongoing development of the Titanic Quarter and the Loft Lines scheme, the first Build-to-Rent scheme in Northern Ireland.
About the project Tieran said, “My interest in this research stemmed from projects I worked on at Carlin Planning, where I gained experience with large-scale masterplans focused in the Republic of Ireland, allowing me to compare development approaches with Northern Ireland. The academic and practical aspects complemented each other well, and the University recognised the quality of the research by nominating me, via the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), for the RTPI NI Student Project Prize.”
We are very proud of Tiernan and his achievement and can’t wait to see what the future brings for him.
